LOWER THE SPEED LIMIT

FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR TOWN

The speed limit on Highway 117 in Mentone Alabama is too fast for safety. With the traffic of local residents combined with hikers, and bikers yard sale chasers, the tractor trailers driving through at hight speeds creates a dangerous community. This safety problem will only become more dangerous after the completion of the road projects on Highway 117 and 48 in Georgia.
This petition is a request to the Highway Department (ALADOT) that the speed limit on highway 117 through our town be lowered. The proposed plan is to change the speed limit to 25mph from the top of the mountain to the post office and 35mph from the post office to the town limits.
Since safety is an issue that affects everyone, you may sign this petition even if you are not from Mentone. Along with listing your name, please tell us where you are from (if not from Mentone).
This change will help create a safer community for us and those journeying through our neck of the woods.
